This is the piston for the DLE 20RA single, a small-displacement two-stroke petrol engine for sport-scale models.
The part itself is the piston, which transmits combustion pressure to the connecting rod and controls the transfer and exhaust ports on a two-stroke.
Why it is replaced: pistons are replaced at top-end overhaul, or after a lean run or detonation has scuffed the skirt.
Fitting note: Fit a new ring with a new piston, check the bore for scoring and observe the correct piston orientation on a two-stroke.
