This is the woodruff key for the DLE 30 single, a mid-size two-stroke petrol engine for sport and scale models.
The part itself is the Woodruff key, which keys the hub or drive to the crankshaft so torque is transmitted positively.
Why it is replaced: a sheared key is the usual result of a prop strike, and a worn key lets the drive fret on the shaft.
Fitting note: Check the keyway in both parts for fretting before fitting a new key.
