This is the piston pin for the DLE 120 twin, a large two-stroke petrol engine for big scale models.
The part itself is the piston pin (wrist pin), on which the connecting rod pivots inside the piston.
Why it is replaced: a worn pin allows the rod to rock and is a source of knocking on a high-hour engine.
Fitting note: Check the pin and the piston boss for wear, and renew the retaining clips.
