This is the bearing top cover for the UMS 5-250cc engine, the five-cylinder 250cc four-stroke radial from UMS.
The part itself is the top cover bearing supporting the valve train.
Why it is replaced: renewed on overhaul or when roughness or play is found on inspection.
Fitting note: Check the oil feed to the cover when replacing — a dry bearing will fail again.
