Function: it is the cylinder head with its valve guides already fitted.
The reason this ends up on an order: supplied this way because worn valve guides are one of the most common reasons to take a head off a radial — oil past the guides shows as a smoking exhaust.
Fitting note: Check valve stem clearance in the new guide before assembly.
