This is the damping base for the DLE 85 single, a large two-stroke petrol engine for big scale models.
The part itself is the damping base, a rubber-isolated engine base that reduces vibration transfer to the airframe.
Why it is replaced: the damping material ages and hardens, after which vibration is passed straight into the structure.
Fitting note: Replace the damping elements as a set and check the base is not distorted.
